Calliope River

On the Bruce Highway, close to Gladstone. You can camp for free both sides of the river. Excellent stopover if you are traveling the Bruce Highway, or to just camp by the river for a few days. It could also be a gateway to exploring Gladstone (though I don't know why you'd want to) or Tannum Sands/Boyne Island (more enjoyable) or even the Boyne Valley, though there are free camps up that way as well.
