Porters Gorge Wellington Dam
by: Anonymous

My husband & myself stayed at Porters Gorge Wellington Dam weekend of 25/26 July 2014. Beautiful spot right next to the Wellington Dam. If you camp during winter fire pits are on offer & let's face it that's is the best thing about winter camping! Only 22k's from Collie townsite for emergancy supplies. you need to bring your own drinking water & fire wood. Flushing toilets are on offer along with an outdoor cold shower. The water is good enough for boiling to clean dishes but would not recommend drinking it. Large campsite bays available can easily fit large caravans, three in a row rocked up when we left on the Sunday. Freshwater fishing permitted in the dam all year round as long as correct permits are held can be obtained from fisheries for $40 a year. Campsites are on dec websites no dogs due to being a national park. $7.50 a night per adult, ranger collects fees daily. Don't forget your torch you will need them for the trek to the toilet during the night no electricity in the toilets too. Parrots are extremely friendly, possums are at the camp too. The stars at night are breath taking! Took a point off & gave 4 out of 5 stars due to no drinking water or electricity in the toilets but other than that great camp spot for the family!!
