Snorkelling / Fishing Ningaloo Reef

Ningaloo Reef is an underwater wonderland. It is outstanding in every sense of the word. Here you can snorkel with Dugongs, Turtles, Reef Sharks and massive Bull Rays, plus a mindblowing array and quantity of reef fish.

To snorkel in this place is in our opinion virtually as good as it gets. It is basically the Great Barrier Reef right on the beachfront, without the expense and inconvenience of a boat ride and the associated sea sickness ;-)

Like most of our favourite things to do, IT'S A FREE ONE!!

At Turquoise Bay, simply walk up the beach, jump in and float over the coral and marine life as you drift in the current, before hopping out and doing it again (and again!)

Also have a go snorkelling at Oyster Stacks, which is renowned for its amazing fishlife and coral. From Exmouth Lighthouse in the north, down to Gnaraloo, Red Bluff and The Blowholes in the south (around 350km), there is no shortage of spots to experience world class fishing and snorkelling.

As far as fishing goes, a tinny will give you access to the real "hey Mum look at this" fish. I don't claim to be the greatest fisherman, but with a simple rig and casting in almost anywhere I landed us dinner and had a tonne of fun. Even if you are unlucky enough to not land a fish, you won't really care because you will be marvelling at the beauty of this place and the sunsets that will be forever etched in your memory.

If you are anything like me, you may also raise a grin as you think of the poor folks back home and what they would be up to!

Walk and swim the Karijini National Park Gorges

In our opinion, any part of the Pilbara is beautiful. From the colours and ruggedness of the Hammersley Range, to the vast open spaces, sunsets and unbelievably beautiful gorges, this place will have an impact on you.

There is so much to see and do in the Pilbara, and scrambling through the gorges that make Karijini famous is our pick of them. We have listed it as our favourite, but there are so many other spots in this great region waiting to be explored.
